Warm Springs Bay on the east side of Baranof Island is a small slice of paradise. A massive waterfall (right) cascades into the sea, and an on-again, off-again store features a few groceries and an Internet cafe. But the best feature of this place is its hot springs.
Close to the dock, a free bathhouse features three private rooms, each with a spacious horse watering trough, that visitors can fill with hot water. The view is worth millions.

Below: Floatplanes, fishing boats and pleasure boats often dock here.

Left: With roaring falls as a backdrop, fishermen mend their nets.
Follow a short boardwalk up a hill here, and then meander through the woods for a bit, and one comes to spectacular natural hot springs. Here, there are several rockbound pools where water reaches 104 and 105 degrees F. Just below the pools, a waterfall thunders.
