Ecuador

This beautiful South American country features many different environments: high, active, snow-capped volcanoes, the hot and humid coastal plains, a cloud forest northwest of Quito reminiscent of Hawaii, the Amazon rainforest featuring some of the greatest biodiversity in the world, and the Galapagos, rightly nicknamed the "Enchanted Isles."

On this three-week photography trip in December 2003 a small group of us visited the cloud forest, the Amazon rainforest and the Galapagos. In between we spent time in high-altitude Quito, the vibrant and colorful capital of this small country. Click on the links below to see some of the more than 100 images (from 2,000) that are posted online of this spectacular place.
