This little black bear cub tries to show how big and strong he is by dragging this much-battered salmon carcass around. Last summer we saw up to 21 bears at once from our vantage point in a safe viewing area and blind at Anan Creek, during our Southeast Alaska trip. No telling how many bears will be there this year, but ya never know! My first trip is now full, but I'm offering a second trip in late August. |

Bodie! We have two trips for 2013. We are one of the few groups that get to go INSIDE the artifact-crammed buildings of this ghost town on the east side of the Sierra Nevadas. We'll also have the town to ourselves for an evening of sunset and star photography. This is Betty's 10th year of leading workshops here. The May workshop just had a cancellation, and there is plenty of space at the moment in the October workshop. |
Once again, we're privileged to be in the heart of Point Reyes at the historic Lifeboat Station. This is a repeat of a hugely popular workshop we've been doing for years. The old Lifeboat Station is on Drake's Bay and is within walking distance of Chimmey Rock and the magnificent headlands all around. We're a short drive from the fabulous Point Reyes Light with its ocean views and steps. This one takes place June 21-23, so enroll soon. We work in conjunction with the Point Reyes Field Institute. Registration is now open. |
Filoli. (Please note date change.) We are thrilled to return to these magnificent formal gardens, perhaps the most beautiful in Northern California. This June 15 adventure will highlight (for a change) the massive and varied rose gardens along with countless annuals, and of course the magnificent architecture of this historic estate. We have special permission to have the place to ourselves in the early morning for almost two hours before the crowds arrive. |
Alaska 2013. There are many reasons Betty keeps returning to Southeast Alaska again and again. No, it's not the food (which is fantastic, by the way). Rather, these trips offer the best opportunities for quality wildlife and landscape photography in Southeast Alaska. Non photographers are welcome, too. I can guarantee bears, bears and more bears along with whales and great scenery. We take up to eight passengers. This trip offers great value for the money, and the opportunity won't last forever, as our amazing captain/owner is getting a bit older. And we're all getting older, too. Do this while you can; I've had too many folks put off this adventure and then their health deteriorates or other complications get in the way, and it's too late. The first trip MIGHT be full (please check with me); the second trip has plenty of spots left. |
Tanzania, Africa! Final reservations and deposits are being made now for this "ultimate" 17-day trip to some of the best game parks in Africa. This is the best of the best and we do it right. Designed by photographers for photographers, although non photographers are welcome, too. Register before May 1 for a significant discount. |
